Solar photovoltaic
Solar photovoltaic (PV) is a technology that converts sunlight into electricity. It works by using semiconductor materials, such as silicon, to capture the photons of light from the sun and convert them into electrons of direct current (DC) electricity. The DC electricity is then sent through an inverter which converts it into alternating current (AC) electricity, which is the type of electricity used in homes and businesses. The AC electricity is then sent to the electrical grid, or used directly by the home or business. In this way, solar PV panels can generate clean, renewable energy from the sun, reducing the reliance on fossil fuels and helping to combat climate change.
